Typing test FAQ
What is a good typing speed?
The average typing speed is around 40 words per minute. 60 to 70 WPM is considered fast for everyday typing, and professional typists and transcriptionists often reach 80 to 100 WPM or more.
What is the difference between WPM and raw WPM?
WPM counts only correctly typed characters, divided by 5 and by the minutes elapsed. Raw WPM counts every character you typed, mistakes included, so it is always equal to or higher than your real WPM.
Why does a typo lower my score so much?
Each wrong character counts against accuracy, and a wrong word also stops it from counting toward your net WPM, so a handful of mistakes on short words can cost more than a few slow seconds would.
Does this work on my phone?
Yes. Tap the text box to bring up your keyboard and type normally. Turn off auto-correct in your phone's keyboard settings first if you want an accurate error count.
Where is my personal best saved?
It is saved in your browser's local storage on this device, separately for each combination of mode and duration or word count. Clearing your browser data resets it.
