Reaction time test FAQ
What is a good reaction time?
Most adults react to a visual cue in about 200 to 300 milliseconds. Under 200 milliseconds is fast, and times above 400 milliseconds usually mean the click was a bit late or the mind wandered.
Why did it say I clicked too soon?
Clicking while the box is still red counts as an early click, since a real reaction has to happen after the color actually changes. Wait for green each time.
Does a mouse or a touchscreen give a faster time?
A mouse click and a screen tap are measured the same way here, though a physical mouse button is usually a few milliseconds quicker than a touchscreen.
Why do my 5 results vary so much?
Attention drifts. Tiredness, distraction and simply guessing the timing all add or remove tens of milliseconds, which is why the average across 5 attempts is more useful than any single result.
